Well, like a chump, I started a new nutrition plan the week before Thanksgiving. I’ve gone low carb, and I’m not turning back!
I’m one week in, and I’m down to 224 pounds (yay!) – and I didn’t want to blow it on the biggest eating day of the year. So I went in with a plan – I’d eat the turkey of course, as well as any vegetable dishes, while staying away from anything with flour or sugar.
As it turns out, it was much easier than I thought it would be! Because there was so much food to choose from, it was easy to find lots of healthy, delicious things to eat. It’s the same paradox I’ve found eating at Las Vegas buffets while dieting. If I’m not in the right mindset, I can eat a little bit of everything, which leads to an extremely full stomach and about 5 or 6 extra pounds the next day. But if I’m only looking for healthy foods, I find there are plenty to choose from, and I feel satisfied and happy.
Go figure. 🙂
Here are the plates I enjoyed yesterday: veggies and cucumber dip with salami for an appetizer; turkey with salad, green bean casserole, and baked carrots for the main meal; and for dessert, my incredibly supportive mom made me sugar free jello with blackberries inside, with a small flaxseed cookie crumbled on top.
Troy had a little plate of food too, but most of it ended up on the floor.
How did you do yesterday at Thanksgiving dinner? Did you overindulge, or have just the right amount?
