The Best Products from Natural Products Expo West, Part 2 – Food!
Last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend Natural Products Expo West – the largest natural foods show in the world! On Tuesday, I wrote about my favorite health products from the show, and today, I’m continuing my coverage by writing about my favorite food products! These were the food products that stood out for me at Expo West!
Kids
NurturMe Dried Organic Infant and Toddler Food
I’ve been a fan of NurturMe dried organic baby food for awhile now, so I was delighted when I learned that the company is developing new flavors! I brought home one sample each of two different varieties for Troy to try: dried organic quinoa and sweet potato with oatmeal and banana. Of course, he loved both – and they are packed with nutrients that he needs!
Barbara’s Organic Snackimals Cereal
Troy, like a lot of toddlers, can’t get enough cereal. Most cereals are packed with sugar (and empty of nutrients), which is why I’m so glad I discovered Barbara’s at the Expo this year! This cereal is made with organic ingredients and whole grains, and Troy loves the animal shapes and vanilla flavor!
Protein
I will never stop eating meat – it’s just too delicious. But being a meat-eater doesn’t mean you shouldn’t care about the welfare of the animals you consume. The Happy Egg lets their chickens run free and forage outside, instead of being cooped up in cages in a dark barn all day. They live happier lives, and seriously, isn’t that worth the extra dollar you pay for a dozen eggs at the store?
Water
This is not flavored water. There is no added sugar or calories – instead, flower essences are added to help gently calm and relieve stress. I drank a sample of the “relax” water with essences from six different flowers, including crowea and boronia, and soon afterward I felt calmer and more tranquil. There are five different waters to choose from, including “digest,” which can help digestion!
Dairy – Kefir
Redwood Hill Farm’s Kefir is a cultured, probiotic beverage similar in taste and texture to a drinkable yogurt. It’s made from 100% grade A goat’s milk and a custom blend of 10 live and active kefir cultures! It’s low-glycemic, which I love, and it tastes divine! If you haven’t tried Kefir before, you’re missing out!
Dairy – Yogurt
Can I tell you how delicious this yogurt was? It’s thick and creamy, and contains far more nutrients than the pudding-flavored high fructose corn syrup calling itself ”yogurt” at most supermarkets. Because it’s made from simple ingredients and live, active cultures, you can feel good splurging on this treat.
This yogurt was delicious too! It’s made from organic ingredients, without adding anything artificial. It’s uniquely creamy and smooth – much more drinkable than other yogurts. This would be the perfect addition to a smoothie, but it’s delicious on its own as well!
In fact, I couldn’t decide on my own whether I preferred Wallaby or Noosa, so I enlisted Chris and Troy to help me decide in an Australian Yogurt-Off! (Chris asked me to call it “The Yog-Hurt Locker” – punny, true, but cute.) Which yogurt will win? Come by tomorrow to see the results!

You have a great list. I never did try the Balance water =) But definitely taking your word on it. I need whatever I can get to bring down my “stress” levels and keep me calm!
It’s been fun reading everyone’s perspectives on the show and their favorites!
Great roundup! I have yet to try Noosa, but I have some in my fridge so I’ll have to try it. Thanks for doing the hard work.
great roundup! I can’t wait to try Noosa. I have some in my fridge right now. thanks for doing the hard work
I would try the water, anything to help keep me stay calm is good! And I am totally into the yogurt. I love all the new, better, and healthier versions of yogurt that are out now. Thanks for the recommendations!
I would love to try the Balance Water–anything that would make me feel calmer and more relaxed would be great! I’ll be sure to look for Happy Eggs too;.
What great information. I was sorry to miss it this year (Grammie duty called) but I will definitely be there next year!!!
