After My Home Was Burglarized, Simplisafe Home Security Made Me Feel Safe Again
Last year, my home was burglarized.
I was six months pregnant, and I had left the house for about an hour to buy groceries. When I got back home, my back door was open. I should have known at that point that something was up, but I blamed my “pregnancy brain” and assumed I had just forgotten to close it.
I walked into my kitchen, and put down my grocery bags. Then, I walked into my den, and saw what could have been attributed to a tornado or hurricane. All our drawers had been opened, and our files had been torn apart. At that point, I screamed out loud, and left the house, calling the police on my cell phone.
When the police arrived, they took me through our home, and what I saw imprinted itself on my memory forever. My jewelry boxes were broken and empty. Our dresser drawers had been pulled apart, and our clothes covered every surface of our room. Our bedroom window, the burglars’ entrance point, was broken and covered in blood, and a few pieces of my underwear laid a path to the burglar’s escape, suggesting they had still been in the house when I arrived home.
Now, when I look back, I am thankful that this happened before Troy was born (and that the shock didn’t push me into early labor), but at the time, I was terrified. For a week, every time we came home, my heart beat would race as I imagined the worst. That’s when we decided to get a security alarm system.
We called a few of the most popular alarm companies and made appointments. But when they came over to discuss their products and prices, I began to feel violated all over again. Our security means so much to us, and it felt to us like these companies knew that, and were taking advantage of our fear.
Thankfully, my husband discovered SimpliSafe Home Security. We were able to order it through the mail and install it ourselves, saving a ton of money. The representatives we were in touch with assisted us with the installation and were helpful and kind. And the monthly fee is reasonable – less than half of what the other companies we talked to wanted to charge us. Best of all, there is no contract. That, more than anything, gives us the ability to trust our security company.
Thank you SimpliSafe - from the bottom of my heart!

When we bought our house this year we had our alarm installed and I got a remote too. Love it

The remote is great – I never have to worry about accidentally forgetting to turn it on, which is good, because I’m pretty absent-minded!
I can’t imagine how terrifying that must have been! I’ve always grown up with a security system, and without one I have no peace of mind. To me it is entirely worth it to know that my home is safe!
Absolutely!! Especially now that my son is here, I can’t imagine living without it!
An effective alarm system is a key component in any home security set up, as it deters unauthorized intrusion into a residential or commercial area and is a proven method in crime prevention. Therefore, I recommend everyone to install “home alarm systems” in their house to have a peace of mind & home security.
oh no, what a scary situation, I am so sorry you had that happen. Yes, thank God it was before you had your son, I am glad you got a security system and are safe again.
Thank you! And thanks for stopping by!
oh gosh, what a very scary moment. Our homes are suppose to be our safe havens… and not cool someone else took that away from you for a bit.
Wow! So glad you are feeling safe in your home! Also, glad that you were never hurt during the incident! thanks for the info about the alarm company!

PS. Visiting from so cal lady bloggers!
I’m going to check them out. I remember the feeling of being burglarized–it makes you feel so vulnerable!
Wow, this is great info! My house was burglarized recently and it was very frightening. Thanks, I will look into this security system for sure!
I got Simple Safe after my home got broken into in May. SS is quiet good and cost effective.
Its a shame that many people don’t act, or start to upgrade their current systems until its to late
You were fortunate enough not to be home when the burglary happened. It’s also great that you were quick to install a security system right after it happened. In my opinion, you can also get a CCTV system for your house. That won’t only help you protect your house from burglars, but you’ll also have something to use as evidence. Authorities will also catch intruders easily if they have an image of them. I hope this doesn’t happen to you again. I wish you well and I hope that you’ll have a safe delivery. Take care!
Our security alarms shouldn’t be another burden for us; these are supposed to make our everyday lives safer, and not complicated. You did the right thing in purchasing that convenient item. It may be small, but it will definitely help you become safer inside your home, and it’ll give you peace of mind whenever you’re out. How does it work, by the way?
Really well – we love it!
