Saturday #31: Reconnecting with old friends!! :)

Being a mom can feel isolating at times.  Most of my time is spent being in charge – and the time I get to spend with peers is limited – but it doesn’t have to be a lonely experience!

Since having Troy, I’ve made a lot of terrific friends – from the fellow mommies in my exercise group to the awesome ladies I’ve met through blogging – but I’ve missed some of my friends from college.  Thankfully, San Diego is only a two-hour drive from us, and last weekend, I got to reconnect with a few of my closest buddies from the old days!

First, we had brunch with Neill and his mom Kate!  We have known each other since we were in eighth grade, and it’s such a blessing that we are not only still in each others lives, but that we can reconnect!  We had fun chatting and catching up, and Chris and I introduced Neill and Kate to “The Honest Toddler” (funniest blog on the Internet).  Everyone agreed that HT is hilarious.  We had a great time!

Then, we attended Veronica’s birthday party!  Vero and I met in college, became fast friends, and later, roommates!  She’s a sweet, bubbly person that has a knack for making people smile!  She’s married now, and thinking about kids, so she spent some time holding Troy – and he got so excited, he spit up all over her!  She was very sweet about it, which just goes to show that if she and her husband Brian do have kids someday, she’ll be a great mom!

After a few hours, Troy started getting tired, and we’ve learned our lesson about keeping Troy out past his “fussy” time, so we headed home.  It was wonderful getting together, and I just hope we don’t wait so long for the next time!

Mom and I had such a nice time with you, Chris, and Troy this weekend! We definitely must do it all again soon. And Troy is such a well-behaved baby … I was duly impressed :) It helps that he has a wonderful mom and dad!

    Big hugs,
    Neill

Great post. Friends that you have had for a long time are so important. I feel that they really “get” you and know the history behind you and your decisions/personality.
I have a few close friends that I have had for a very long time. I went to CrossFit with one of my friends from elementary school today!

I think most new mom’s would agree that having a new baby is so isolating. I’m so glad you got to visit with some friends. It’s so important to have a support network!
