Brown thumb (slowly) turning green!!
As I’ve been learning more about eating healthy, I’ve discovered the importance of becoming knowledgeable about how food is prepared. This doesn’t just apply in the kitchen, but in the garden too, where food is born!
People like Michael Pollan and Michelle Obama discuss the importance of planting your own garden, and, up until now, I haven’t tried it. I tend to neglect and, unfortunately, kill most of the plants I bring home. But starting a garden is an important part of the process of becoming healthier, and it doesn’t have to start huge – even growing one plant can have benefits!
I’m starting with two – but to tell you the truth, I don’t remember what they are!! I bought the seeds, planted them, and even though I’ve been watering them everyday, whatever they might be is as mysterious to me as it is to you!! Blame it on Mommy-Brain: my short term memory is completely occupied with vital information about my son. I have trouble remembering what I had for breakfast yesterday – the seeds I bought more than a week ago don’t stand a chance. I’m just thrilled that whatever I planted seems to be growing!!
Here they are now, doing pretty well:
| Mystery plant #1: no idea what this could be… |
| Mystery plant #2: an herb maybe? |
In a few more weeks, as these plants grow, their identities should become more obvious, but until then… any guesses?

Hard to tell! All seedlings seem to look alike!

I know!! We’ll find out soon!
Keep it up! After many years of trial and error, I can finally say I have a green thumb. The trick is to pay attention to the plants. The will tell you what they need! Good luck
